President of Ivory Coast Gbagbo was arrested


Gbagbo was arrested
Former Ivory Coast President Laurent Gbagbo were arrested on Monday, April 11 local time, by Alassane Quattara troops. Following this arrest, Quattara prohibits retaliation directed at Gbagbo.

"A new era towards a bright hope has arrived," continued Quattara.

"The lawsuit will be posted to Gbagbo.'s wife and their allies will be given security," said Quattara who want to prevent acts of revenge to Gbagbo.

Gbagbo in power since 2000, determined not to hand over powers to the Quattara although he lost the November election. After the surrender, Gbagbo is currently detained in a hotel together with his wife Simone and his son Michel.

Many people claim to relief with the surrender of the 65-year-old man. Prime Minister Guillaume Soro said that the nightmare was over. Himself urged each troops loyal to Gbagbo to back support the legitimate government.

While the surrender of Gbagbo took place without any resistance, when he had to succumb after a confrontation with one of the commanders of the forces pro-quattara.
